I always thought I was in excellent health. I worked long hard hours irrigating our pasture lands in Southern Oregon and growing a large organic garden, plus competing in dog sports . . . until 25 years of mishandled emotional stress plunged me into a life threatening, rare autoimmune disorder that, within the year, robbed me of my ability to breathe on my own, swallow, talk or see clearly. I became a mere shell of the person I had been only months earlier. 4 years ago, having survived two hospitalizations where I was intubated to facilitate breathing and a surgery to implant a feeding tube for my meds and food, I started working with a psychotherapist. I learned skills to manage my emotions in a healthy manner and reaped the benefits of muscle testing and chakra balancing. I worked with my therapist for two years until I fully recovered my health and was able to stop taking all the prescriptions my neurologist deemed vital and returned to all the activities I so enjoyed. Old, deeply ingrained habits die hard I soon learned. Last year, my mom started into what became her final battle in this lifetime. She refused to move into an assisted living facility and I found myself, as her only child, shouldering the burden of her own emotional meltdown as she fought to retain her independence in the face of her own rapidly declining physical health. 15 months ago, I once again entered the hospital for IV treatments and drug therapy. During that week, my mom started having hallucinations and shortly after I was released from the hospital, the county health nurse informed me that Mom needed to be moved immediately into a care facility. I dragged my mom, almost literally kicking and screaming, into an adult foster care facility where she died 4 days later. That same week, we learned my husband of over 40 years needed open heart, valve replacement surgery as soon as possible BEFORE he could undergo a much needed hip replacement surgery! Emotional stress? Yep, just a little. My therapist had since retired and I tried to go it on my own. For months and months, I made little progress towards regaining my health. Most days, I could barely muster the strength to do the most basic farm chores. I was becoming an emotional wreck. Then good fortune smiled on me. I raise and compete with Australian Shepherd dogs. Christine Mayo Powers contacted me in hopes of bringing home a little sister or brother for Foster, the now 9 year old dog she bought from me as a pup. We had stayed in contact over the years and she knew about my health crisis. She told me about her exciting upcoming career change – from pharmacist to Eden Energy Medicine practitioner. She encouraged me to check into energy medicine. It felt right and the timing was perfect. And, even through our e-mails, I could tell Christine was different – warmer and full of vitality. Hmmm – did energy medicine help her become a happy, healthier person? Christine sent me a list of local practitioners (in Southern Oregon) and I went on line and chose Janie Chandler off that list. She immediately answered my e-mail and we set up our first appointment. I felt at ease with her from the beginning. Our first appointment was in late August 2015. I saw her every week for the first four sessions. Each week she gave me more exercises to do at home. I was still having both emotional and physical symptoms, but they did seem to be lessening. The real break through came in my physical health after the session where Janie balanced my chakras using her bowls. Wow! What a difference. I had been doing some daily practice up to that point, but I became much more focused and diligent. After those first four sessions, I didn’t see her again for a little over a month. We did more work with my chakras at that fifth visit in October 2015. Our next appointment was scheduled for mid December because of her trip to England. A week after the October visit, I had my first day in over a year, of no autoimmune weakness as well as lots of energy for the entire day. I decided to use a point system and write down a number 1-10 on the calendar every evening. 10 of course being a symptom free day. This breakthrough came in only two months of working alone and with Janie. I was ecstatic . . .until two days later I hit a low of “2” for the day!!! Having seen what could be, I dug in and really applied myself to my daily energy work. I incorporate it into my day, taking a few moments to do the homolateral crossover several times. I work on massaging the gaits, sedating triple warmer and strengthening spleen. I muscle test my chakras and give them attention if needed. Since that low of “2”, I have been 7 weeks consistently an “8” or higher, with many more “10s” thrown in. The last 2-3 weeks, I have not been below a “9” – a small amount of autoimmune weakness, but nothing that interferes with my house work or farming chores. I wake up energized and ready for the day. I am no longer on an emotional rollercoaster. My sense of humor is returning and for the first time in a long, long time, I feel happy and content with my life and my world. I am blessed.Janet
